This project consisted of a historic renovation of a 1920′s duplex house and an urban infill new construction tri-plex.
As a part of this renovation, the many historic attributes were treated with sensitivity and resulted in unique architectural features of the finished product.
During this project we demolished portions of the rear and south elevation of the existing structure as shown in the conceptual plans. We reactivated the piazzas in both apartment units. The fireplaces and grand doors were restored to their historic glory. In it’s final form, the original structure consists of one 4-bedroom; 4.5 Bath unit and one 4-bedroom; 4.5 Bath unit with a loft.
The front structure consist of original novelty wood siding, putty glazed windows, large fir doors and trim features unique to the time period. In the rear of the property we constructed a large tri-plex that consists of two 4-bedroom; 4-bath apartment units and one 1-bedroom apartment at the top level. Each apartment has either and outdoor balcony or deck.
The rear structure is made of fiber cement lap siding (Hardie Plank) with large aluminum clad windows and doors. The outdoor decks show Ipe decking and wrought iron rails.
The site maintains exterior green space and off street parking for the convenience and enjoyment of the residents. This was another successful historic renovation/ urban infill project done by CKC Properties LLC.
